With SwitchResX, you can customize your screen resolution and color profile to match your needs. Best of all, the app is extremely easy to use, so you'll be up and running in no time. Whether you want more control over your screen or simply want to improve your productivity, SwitchResX is the perfect solution. Many people are familiar with the concept of mirroring their computer screen to a larger display, such as a TV or projector. This can be useful for presentations or simply for watching videos on a bigger screen. What you may not know is that there is software available that can optimize your screen resolution for the best viewing experience. SwitchResX is one such program, and it can be a valuable tool for anyone who frequently uses an external display. With SwitchResX, you can choose the resolution that best suits your needs, whether you're watching a movie or giving a presentation. Whether you're a professional or simply a casual user, SwitchResX can help you get the most out of your external display.New version of macOS usually overwrites override files so you may need to redo the changes. I think Apple might have removed the need to set DisplayPixelDimensions because some override files in 10.15.3 that contained only DisplayPixelDimensions were removed.Īpple added a new file at /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-9e6d/DisplayProductID-7721 which I think applies to Thunderbolt connection because 7720 is the DisplayPort connection? I'm not sure what adding 0x8000 to VendorID signifies - I think it might be related to dual input displays like my Dell UP2715K (I've seen it have vendor ID 90ac instead of 10ac sometimes in SwitchResX). I'm not sure what the new override file is trying to patch. I don't think it's the tile 1 or tile 2 EDID because the byte in tile 1 is for different data than the byte in tile 2. It might be a patch to the overlay (removes SMPTE ST2084 from the HDR transfer functions) but that would be weird - why not just change the byte in the overlay in the mtdd file?.Īnyway, first thing you should try is using SwitchResX to set the "Scaled resolution base".Īfter that, you can post AGDCDiagnose output files for each connection type. There are at least four possible connection types: Thunderbolt or DisplayPort DisplayPort 1.4 enabled or disabled. You may need to disconnect and power down the display between each change. Before beginning, use the "source" command to load "EDIDUtil.sh". Then for each connection, type "loadagdc agdcconnectiontype1.txt" and "loadioreg". Use a different file name for each agdcdiagnose file. After you're done, type "listedids" and post the result. We might also want exported EDIDs from SwitchResX in case patches are not included in the EDIDs from ioreg. Include the AGDCDiagnose files (zip everything into a single file). Post a list of the files in the 1e6d and 9e6d folder.
